1.1 Overview
Our project is designed to help the unfortunate people who cannot speak to
communicate with us.
The Smart Glove is a 'Portable Sign Language to Text Converter'. A person
who cannot speak will wear a glove mounted with flex sensors and make
some of signs. Here we follow some of Sign Language. The letter
corresponding to a sign made will be displayed on a portable computer.
This project is packed with additional features that are described in the
following modes:
Sign to text conversion mode: convert sign language to text in realtime.
It can also control on-off Applications and Controlling devices.
The development of the most popular devices for hand movement
acquisition, glove-based systems, started about 30 years ago and continues
to engage a growing number of researchers.
Sign language is the language used by deaf and mute people and It is a
communication skill that uses gestures instead of sound to convey
meaning simultaneously combining hand shapes, orientations and
movement of the hands, to express fluidly a speaker’s thoughts.
